Kennedy George was married to Madeline (Kirby) of Cornwall, Ontario.

Private George Martin Kennedy, Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment. Born on 12 January 1922 in Waterloo Township, Ontario and died of wounds received in action on 25 July 1943.
George got wounded in action when the Hasty P's had to take the hill features east of Nissoria. Below is a part from their war diary that day:
"The Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment moved on around 01.00 hours to south Nissoria. The Battalion reached the base of a large hill feature north of Nissoria. A and B-Coys went uphill where B-Coy observed an enemy post. They put in a Company attack. The enemy consisted of approximately one Battalion which opened fire. B-Coy were pinned down and the remaining companies were sent over the flanks. The enemy fire became so intense that Major Kennedy was sent back to Brigade to ask for immediate artillery support.
B-Coy overran the enemy position killing a number of German and capturing others. Extremely active mortars and numerous medium machine guns supported by three dug in Mark III tanks made it impossible to advance without heavy casualties. The CO, The Lord Tweedsmuir, got seriously wounded in the knee by a mortar shell and ordered a withdrawal before being evacuated himself. D-Coy were the rear guard and one section of B-Coy under Corporal Bullied were unable to withdraw. They remained within 40 yards of the enemy position, unobserved, throughout the next day. They retreated the next night. The Hasty P's suffered fairly heavy casualties, although the enemy casualties were greater."
George was first reported missing in action and according to his files he wasn't transported to a Field Dressing Station. It is very likely that he was mortally wounded and died on the battlefield. He was buried just outside Nissoria amongst other Hasty P's men who fell in the battle for Nissoria. He was later reburied at Agira Canadian War Cemetery.
George was married to Madeline Margaret Kennedy and together they lived in Cornwall, Ontario. His parents lived in Bowmanville and so were two of his brother and four sisters. His brother James also served overseas and survived the war.
