Private Reginald Ernest Fieldhouse served in the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. Born on 26 June 1914 in Camsack, Saskatchewan and killed in action on D-Day of Operation Husky on 10 July 1943.
Reg was killed close to the landing beaches, but the exact circumstances are not known. His family was told that he stepped on a mine, but the war diaries also say that the Seaforths were shelled by 88mm guns. I guess we'll never know.
Reg was buried in a field grave near Sugar Beach, their initial landing beach, and later reburied at Agira Canadian War Cemetery.
Reg lived in Vancouver with his parents and two brothers. His younger brother James enlisted in the Royal Canadian Artillery and was transferred to the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. In February 1945 James was seriously wounded in the chest and abdomen by shrapnel while fighting in the Netherlands. He was shipped to a hospital in England and survived the war.

Reginald Fieldhouse was one of the first Seaforths to be killed in action during Operation Husky. He was killed in action near the landing beached of Bark West and buried in a field grave there.Reginald enlisted on 26th of February 1940 in Vancouver and lived in Nelson (BC). He was appointed to Lance Corporal and later acting Corporal but just before Husky he requested to become Private again. He left his parents and two brothers behind. One of his brothers served in the Royal Canadian Artillery.
