Born 8 Nov 1921, Windsor, Essex County, Ontario, Canada;
Son of Mike and Stella Hischuck, of Ridgetown, Ontario;
He enlisted on the 16th of April 1941 in London, Ontario

Trooper Michael Hischuck, Royal Canadian Dragoons. Born on the 8th of November 1921 in Windsor, Ontario and died of wounds on the 21st of November 1943.
Mike served in the 1st Armoured Car Regiment in C-Squadron. He disembarked with the Dragoons on the 9th of November 1943 on Sicily. On November 17 he and a some of his comrades were in a captured gun emplacement when all of a sudden an explosion took place. It seemed that the gun emplacement was booby trapped killing seven Dragoons and wounding 15 others. The other fatalities were Lieutenant Jarvis, Lieutenant Craven, Trooper Poulton, Trooper Bain, Trooper Simpson and Lance Corporal Eckhardt.
Mike suffered extensive burns all over his body and was rushed to No. 33 General Hospital. He succumbed of his wounds four days later and was buried at Syracuse War Cemetery. He was later reburied at Agira together with the other six men.
Mike lived in Ridgetown, Ontario with his mother and one younger brother and sister. His older sister lived nearby. He enlisted on the 16th of April 1941 in London, Ontario.
