Son of Walter and Theodate Carter Barrett, of Paris, Ontario.
Born: April 18, 1922 Sydney, Nova Scotia
Enlistment: May 1, 1941 Brampton, Ontario
He was the oldest child in a family of ten. He was killed in action on July 22, 1943.

Private Bernard "Buddy" Nancis Barrett, Lorne Scots (Peel, Dufferin and Halton Regiment).
orn on 18 April 1922 in Sydney, Nova Scotia and killed in action near Leonforte on 22 July 1943.
The war diary of the Lorne Scots describes the death of Buddy:
"Around 17.00 hrs Kitty Hawks attacked a Canadian transport on the road leading to Leonforte and blew up 1 Divisional HQ petrol lorry killing three members of the Defense and Employment Platoon (Private Barrett, Corporal Coxe of the Lorne Scots and Private Ashley-Pryce of the RCASC)."
Buddy's initial burial spot is unknown, but he was later reburied at Agira Canadian War Cemetery.
Buddy lived in Paris, Ontario with his parents. He was the oldest of seven boys and had one older sister and one younger sister.
His older sister served in the Canadian Women's Army Corps.
Buddy enlisted on 1 May 1941 in Brampton, Ontario.
